Following the 13th August Wiltshire County Council statement approved by the Director of Public Health, and Wiltshire Police in relation to events planned in Wiltshire and in particular the larger gathering, open-air live music events.
Salisbury Live and Salisbury Rugby Club have taken the decision to cancel the Big Live Weekend at Salisbury Rugby Club on Bank Holiday Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August.
After discussions with Wilts County Council and Police representatives, it was decided that it may be ‘a bridge too far’ for this type of ‘amplified live music’ event to take place in this current climate.
At the time of planning this event, we followed the guidelines that were set out by DCMS and PHE. We also acted on the advice from relevant local authorities. We were confident that the appropriate measures regarding audience and artist safety were in place.
We do realise however that we are in the grip of a pandemic and it would be irresponsible of us to go against and ignore professional, expert advice.
We would like to thank all the organisations and artists involved in the planning of this event and a very special thanks to Salisbury Printing, James Hay Partnership, the Salisbury Journal, Tony Tyler Financial Services and Enigma Security for their sponsorship and endorsement of the event.
This was well on the way to being a sell-out event so thanks also to the Salisbury public for their support, encouragement and enthusiasm. Ticket refunds will be available from the source of purchase. For all online ticket sales, Skiddle.com has been notified and the full face value of all ticket will be refunded. Check your email from Monday morning for further details.
We will be back at the nearest opportunity as better days are surely around the corner!
