Local Salisbury entrepreneur Alex Taylor reaches a milestone this week as her award-winning business reaches its 10th birthday!
starting small at Salisbury Rugby Club, Alex had the dream of providing fitness sessions tailored for women, by women across the local community and making fitness accessible in surroundings where ladies feel comfortable and confident.
The classes quickly became popular and by the end of 2011 the team – known as the ‘GLF Tribe’ had grown to 4 and the business had won the Salisbury New business of the year award and gone one to come 3rd at the Wiltshire awards.
Not resting on her laurels, Alex was yet more ambitious and invested the money they won into building the companies first website and diversifying into children’s and teens’ fitness and a sister business ‘kidzlovefit’ was born.
The achievements kept coming as year on year the business grew in reputation and more recognition was gained;
- Business personality of the year award runner up 2013,
- Women inspiring women’s award finalist 2013,
- South Wilts Business of the year awards ‘Microbusiness of the year’ finalist 2014,
- WINNER of the women in business for kidzlovefit,
- 2017 finalist line up in BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’.
One long-standing member of GirlsLovefit said “Meeting the GLF team and taking the ‘Drop a dress size’ class gave me back the confidence that I had lost after my second baby – I thought I would never feel slim and attractive again but I stuck to classes and the dietary advice given and now I feel great and happy with my body again”
These days GLF runs from their own purpose-built virtual studio – StudioX – as well as locations around the area where women can benefit from an enormous range of fitness options including Zumba, Total Tone, HIITstep, Yoga and Pilates.
KLF has spread to more schools and nurseries than ever before inspiring children to have fun and stay fit at the same time.
Alex said “I am so proud of my team of fitness instructors and all the wonderful women who have enjoyed exercise with us over the past 10 years. Thank you, Salisbury, for all your wonderful support.”
Yet unsurprisingly Mrs Taylor isn’t standing still – the business has become Covid Safe offering online classes and continues to grow its repertoire with global online fat loss programmes, corporate fitness and she guest presents across the country sharing her knowledge and insights. GirlsLoveFit, are celebrating their 10th anniversary on 21st October, and are offering Salisbury ladies the opportunity to enjoy 10 online classes for £10, from the 21st October, for 10 days.
