Lavvy followed up their Derby win with a huge away win at Hythe, one of the league favourites based on last season’s form.
The home side started quickest and almost took the lead inside 2mins, a knockdown led to a 20-yard effort but it struck the upright.
Lavvy soon got into their stride and showed that cutting edge they have demonstrated so far this season when on 9 mins a Jake Rawkins free-kick was cleverly nodded in by Chae Sykes for the opener.
They could have been 2-0 shortly after only for a wonder save by the Hythe custodian. They continued to dominate the 1st half and when former Downton man Diego Romero was sin-binned it gave Lavvy more freedom but they couldn’t capitalise on their numerical advantage.
The 2nd half saw Hythe start in the same fashion, they immediately looked dangerous and got level on 47. a long ball seemed to cause hesitancy and Mig Dark made no mistake smashing home the equaliser.
Hythe continued to press and Mason was proving a real handful on the right flank but this Laverstock side did not know when to back down and took the lead again on 52. A corner played short to Wakeford gave him time to whip in a dangerous deep ball that went in off the back post.
The goal seemed to rock the home side as Sykes & Lovegrove both missed great chances to extend the lead. With time running out Hythe continued to press and launch balls into the box but nothing could get through.
Tom Roberts returning in the lavvy goal was in confident mood coming for cross after cross clattering anything in his way proving defiant and paving the way for his side to hold on and see out their eighth win in nine.
