With the second phase of lockdown in full swing, options for getting in the festive spirit are limited. Help is at hand in the form of Salisbury’s Family Christmas Extravaganza.
The event is being organised by local business owners Georgie Dixon from Georgie’s Little Readers Bookshop and Emma-Marie Newman from Catch Creative Salisbury. ‘It’s now more important than ever to support our local businesses and give them a platform’ Georgie explains:
‘We also hope to bring a little Christmas magic into people’s homes and spread a bit of community spirit’. The star of the show will be a raffle in aid of Salisbury Foodbank, who will also be ‘popping in’ to talk about the important work they are doing. ‘We understand that this year is going to be a real struggle for many people in Salisbury’ Emma-Marie said, ‘we wanted to support the amazing work that the Foodbank do, providing much-needed food packages to those in need’.
Thirteen local businesses will have a 1-hour slot each to showcase their work, in a mix of live videos and posts on the dedicated Facebook group. The event will include live dance, music, keep-fit classes and bedtime stories, as well as a range of toys, books, clothes and other gifts for sale.
‘Salisbury’s Family Christmas Extravaganza’ is an online event being held on the evenings of Thursday 26th and Friday 27th November and all day on Saturday 28th.
