Salisbury’s Christmas Tree Trail To Bring A Little Festive Cheer

As part of the festive offering in Salisbury City Centre this year Salisbury City Council will be erecting and beautifully decorating 12 large Christmas Trees throughout the streets. These combine to make a Christmas Tree Trail which will run between Saturday 21 November 2020 and Monday 4 January 2021.

It is hoped that residents and visitors will enjoy their exercise during lockdown or later on a festive day out in Salisbury and discover the twelve themed trees dotted around the city centre. Starting at Salisbury Cathedral and finishing at the Market Place, the magical trail for all the family will guide you through the medieval streets of Salisbury. Search for a hidden letter in each tree and uncover the festive character for a chance to win a prize. Entries should be posted in the red post box at the front of the Guildhall and a randomly picked winner will receive a £50 Salisbury Gift Card kindly donated by Casterbridge Wealth.

Download your Tree Trail Map from the Salisbury City Council/Christmas in Salisbury website from the 21st November or pick up yours from Salisbury Information Centre in Fish Row after the end of lockdown.

Why not help make Salisbury truly sparkle this year by adding some festive magic to your own front garden and put up a Christmas tree for people to enjoy whilst on their outdoor exercise? These trees could bring much-needed cheer during these difficult weeks. Upload photos of yours to our Facebook page for all to enjoy.

Following the government’s announcement on Saturday 31 October, the City Council encourages the public to socially distance at all times when taking part in the trail. If there are many people at one tree, please move on to the next one and return later.

Salisbury’s Christmas Lights:
Christmas in Salisbury traditionally begins with the much-loved light switch on event in the Market Place, but sadly this event will not be going ahead this year.
However, Salisbury will still be beautifully dressed in twinkly lights for all to admire when visiting the city centre over the festive period. The lights will be illuminated, including the stunning lights wrapping the trees in the Market Place, from Saturday 21st November 2020.
