Patients of Avon Valley Practice are now able to collect medication 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without queuing!
The Pharmaself24 system provides patients with medication in a similar way to cash dispensing machines and is a safe and secure way to collect medication any time of day (or night). A really useful service, especially during Covid restrictions.
Choosing to collect medication from the automatic dispensing robot means patients no longer have to queue for medication or enter the surgery.
Patients can use a debit or credit card to pay for medication or follow the instructions on the Pharmaself24 screen to record exemption from charges.
Patients just need to provide a mobile phone number and consent to contact using text messaging if they’ve not already done so.
When medication is ready for collection, patients receive a text message with a one-time-only 6 digit pin number. The patient then visits the machine within the next few days, entering the pin number when requested. Medication will be dispensed.
Due to the use of text messaging, only children aged 11 and under and patients aged 16 and over, can use Pharmaself24. However, they hope to offer this service to children aged 12 to 15 in 2021.
At present, patients can’t collect controlled drugs or refrigerated medication from Pharmaself24. However, they are looking into how to do this! But for now, don’t worry, their ‘window’ at Durrington Surgery will remain open as follows:
- Up to 30th November 2020
- Monday to Friday, 10:00-13:00
- 1st – 31st December 2020
- Monday to Friday, 12:00-13:00 & 17:00-18:00, excluding bank holidays
