Youth Grant Funding Still Up For Grabs

Chair of Salisbury Area Board, Councillor Atiqul Hoque, is reminding local groups and organisations that there is a still a pot of Youth Funding available.

There is still around £15,000 available in the youth budget and Cllr Hoque is encouraging for groups to apply. ‘I encourage any organisation that wants to provide positive activities for teenagers in our city to apply. This funding needs to be spent by March 2021.’

Groups can liaise with Marc Read, the Community Engagement Manager for Salisbury, during the application process and there is a quick eligibility checker on the council website.

The Area Board has this money to support projects that provide positive activities for young people aged 13 to 19 years old and those aged up to 25 years with special educational needs and/or disabilities. A positive activity can be any educational or recreational leisure-time activity that is arts, sports, leisure, informal education and community based which helps young people achieve healthy and safe lifestyle outcomes.

Applications will be considered by the Local Youth Network (LYN) or a similar local model, comprising of young people and supporting members such as the CEM and local councillors. Decisions made by the LYN are ratified by councillors at each area board meeting.
