The Monolith that appeared on Laverstock Downs, overlooking the city, on New Year’s day has been vandalised and now removed.
The shiny monolith had been ripped from the ground, damaging its metal spike in the process, and then dragged down the hill.
A group of local runners tried to re-erect the monolith in its original position, but it was too damaged to make this possible.
Monoliths have been popping up all over the world and the one on Laverstock down’s was the most recent, it like another in Oxfordshire were both discovered on New Year’s Day morning.
The monolith has now been removed from the site, it is not clear at this point whether it is repairable or if it will return to the hillside.
