A man has been arrested after allegedly attempting to bite a nurse at Salisbury District Hospital.
At around 9.00 pm last night (21/01) we were called to John Baker House to reports of a disturbance where a man was refusing to leave.
Due to concerns for his welfare, he was taken to Salisbury District Hospital. In the early hours of this morning, we were called to the hospital to reports of the man causing further disorder after being discharged.
The man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of causing a disturbance on NHS premises and common assault. He was taken to Melksham Police Station where he remains in custody.
Inspector Pete Sparrow said:
“We take incidents of assault towards nurses and all members of the emergency services incredibly seriously.
“Nobody should feel like they are at risk in their workplace, especially when that job is to help and protect the public.
“Incidents, such as this, are avoidable by simply listening to the advice given. Now more than ever we ask for all our community to support our emergency services, particularly the NHS, by being respectful and following the current guidance.”
