Mayor Making and Live Music on Sunday 22nd August

On Sunday 22nd August, a Mayor Making event will take place to celebrate the city of Salisbury and its new Mayor and Councillors in Salisbury Market Place.

Earlier in the year, the election of the new Councillors and the new Mayor, Cllr Mrs Caroline Corbin was announced. Unfortunately, the restrictions surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic meant that an event to mark this was unable to happen. We are delighted that a celebratory event will now take place on 22nd August.

On the day, a civic procession of visiting Mayors and invited guests will leave the Guildhall in procession via Fish Row, Butchers Row, Minster Street and into St. Thomas’s Church at approximately 10.15am with a fanfare played by the Salisbury City Band of the Royal British Legion.

The Civic Party will then make their way from St. Thomas’s Church via St Thomas Square and Blue Boar Row to the Guildhall for a private reception from approx. 11.20am.

To conclude the celebration, Salisbury City Council has teamed up with Colin Holton, the organiser of events such as Salisbury Live, to host a variety of performers and live music in Salisbury Market Place from 1.30pm until 9pm. The Mayor of Salisbury invites all guests and members of the public to attend this free event with the Mayor opening the stage at 1.30pm, followed by a fab line-up including:

1.30pm – 2pm Salisbury City Band of the Royal British Legion
2.10pm – 2.40pm Luke Futcher
2.40pm – 3pm Elevate Dance Company
3pm – 3.40pm George Agombar
4pm – 4.40pm Kings of Lounge
5pm – 5.40pm Echoes
6pm – 6.40pm Westville Rock
7pm – 7.40pm Evolution Choir
8pm – 9pm Glasshouse

Mayor of Salisbury, Cllr Caroline Corbin said, “Despite having to delay this year’s Mayor Making, I am delighted to be able to invite all residents to join me in celebrating my Mayoral year, and with it the opportunity to host something different to previous years with an exciting music event. Do come down to Salisbury Market Place and enjoy live music from local bands from 1.30pm.”
