Interested in Sports Journalism? Learn the basics around reporting on your favourite sports from writing a report to live text commentary.
mySalisbury and Salisbury FC are working in collaboration to deliver a Sports Journalism workshop on Monday 20th September.
This workshop will teach the basic skills around how to put together a match report, deliver live text commentary and report on a sporting event.
Through the course, participants will be introduced to the format of a sports report, the technology used for live text commentary which will give an insight into how modern sports journalism works across different platforms.
The course will be held at Salisbury FC’s Raymond McEnhill Stadium and there is an opportunity to learn real-world experience reporting on live fixtures from the stadium.
The course would be ideal for those studying at 6th Form or College with an interest in studying Journalism at University or anyone with a love of sport who wants to share the experiences at a sporting event.
There will be supplementary workshops on sports radio commentary delivered by an experienced commentator who has commentated on over 100 matches including EFL Championship and Under 21 International football fixtures.
Andy Munns from mySalisbury said: “It’s really exciting to be able to offer this workshop in partnership with Salisbury FC. The club is the biggest sporting draw in the city with crowds around the five or six hundred mark. It’s a great base for the workshop, but even better is the club have offered the participants the opportunity to gain some really valuable real-world experience. I am hopeful that there are some budding sports journalists locally. An experience like this will look fantastic on their CV when applying for University or even for jobs in the industry. I’d like to thank Ian Pearson and everyone at Salisbury FC for their support with this workshop.”
