In January of 2021 Salisbury Hospice Charity launched its 40-4-40 club initiative, inviting local businesses to jointly raise £40,000 in support of Salisbury Hospice’s 40th-year celebrations.
33 big-hearted businesses signed up to the club and individually fundraised in a variety of different ways. This included challenge events such as physical and virtual walks, a plane pull and treks. Other businesses held competitions, events and donated their services to raise funds.
mySalisbury was one of the local organisations who were involved, raising just over £1,000 by organising one of the biggest pub quizzes that Salisbury has ever seen with hundreds of quizzers playing at venues across the city.
mySalisbury founder, Andy Munns said; ‘As soon as we heard about 40-4-40 I wanted to be involved. The Hospice does incredible work and I wanted to support it. I am so pleased that the initiative has more than achieved its aim.’
In December, to round off the fundraising for the year, we launched our first-ever, online Christmas raffle. Members of the 40-4-40 club donated prizes to the raffle which raised an additional £1,170 towards the overall total.
We are extremely grateful to all 33 businesses for their incredibly generous support. The £41,392 raised will make a huge difference to the patients and families supported by Salisbury Hospice, with the funding going towards specialist nursing within the hospice’s inpatient unit.
Louise Compton, Corporate Fundraiser for Salisbury Hospice Charity had the following to say:
“We are in awe of our 40-4-40 club members, who rallied together in support of the hospice, this was a huge collective effort and we are so grateful to each business, not just for the funds raised but for the time and effort put into their fundraising. It was wonderful to see these businesses come together to support a service that is so vital to individuals within their community.”
