All the markets taking place in Cirencester this August

A FREE music festival, bands performing in the park and a twilight market are just a few events taking place in Cirencester this August.

The Bands in the Park programme continues so Cirencester residents can listen to a range of local bands performing at the bandstand in Abbey Grounds Park every Sunday until September, excluding August 27.

A very special performance is scheduled for Sunday, August 13 featuring Cirencester Band and their twin band Oelixdorfer Musikzug from North Germany.

Oelixdorfer Musikzug is a concert band which uses flutes, clarinets and saxophones plus a range of brass instruments.

Their repertoire is a mixture of traditional German marches, waltzes and polkas together with arrangements of popular songs, German chart hits and film theme tunes.

In addition, the twilight market will return to the Market Place between 6pm and 10pm on Saturday, August 12 for an evening of live music, food and shopping.

There will also be a general market in the Market Place on Saturday, August 19 which will feature many of the usual Monday and Friday Charter Market traders.

Meanwhile, a Vintage and Artisan Fair will take place at the Corn Hall on Sunday, August 20.

To round off the month with a bang, Cirencester’s free Phoenix Music Festival returns over the bank holiday weekend (Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27) in the Abbey Grounds Park.

Also don’t forget that the street piano in the Market Place is still in place and although the weather has restricted its use in July, it should be more available in August.

Weather permitting, the piano is available to use between 10am and 6pm most days and everyone is welcome to come and play.
