TEMPORARY traffic lights will be in place in Harnham until the end of the week due to a gas leak.

Wiltshire Council has provided an update on the status of the repair works on Harnham Road after enquiries from Salisbury City Councillor Eleanor Wills.

Wiltshire Council responded via email to say the “urgent gas works” are needed “to repair a mains gas leak.”

The road has been closed for the emergency repairs since Friday, July 28, with the public road closure monitoring system one.network showing that temporary traffic control measures will remain in place until Friday, August 4.

Wiltshire Council said: “We have requested that the lights are manually controlled between 7am and 7pm to monitor traffic queues however due to the location of the works this is still going to cause disruption to the wider network. We are receiving progress reports from SGN and hope for them to be off the network as soon as possible.”
