Birmingham Airport has temporarily suspended flights due to a security incident on a plane.

The airport had an emergency call from a plane and the situation was “very serious”, according to a passenger on another plane at the airport.

Belfast City Airport has told the BBC that the flight involved was due to land in Belfast.

A spokesperson for the airport said: “The aircraft landed safely and all passengers and crew have disembarked.

“All customers due to travel should make their way to the airport and check in as normal.”

Train services were also at a standstill at Birmingham International railway station.
