Among the quarrels at Thursday night’s first presidential debate was a claim dating back six years.
President Joe Biden accused Trump of having called veterans who died in combat “suckers and losers” after allegations that Trump cancelled a 2018 visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in France because there were “losers” there.
The comments first surfaced in 2020. Trump’s former chief-of-staff John Kelly had later confirmed Trump’s comments. On the debate stage, Trump accused Biden of falsifying the quote and demanded he apologise, which Biden refused to do.
