Piers Morgan: 'England were robbed by the cheating Aussie convicts'

Piers Morgan insists England would have won the Ashes at the Oval this week had they not been denied by “soul destroying” rain in Manchester in the last Test match, and has labelled Australia “cheating convicts”.

Morgan has never been afraid to wind up the Aussies on social media, and he joined Telegraph Sport’s Vaughany and Tuffers Cricket Club Podcast in their latest episode to discuss topics ranging from Bazball to psychopaths.

“This was building to one of the all-time great finishes. We were 2-0 down but really should have been 2-0 up. To be 2-0 down and then roar back, to be 2-2 and then go to the Oval, which is exactly what would have happened had we played more than two hours on the weekend. It would have been the greatest series ever.

“England have have been the dominant team, the better team. England should have won every Test. We’re a better team. I don’t think there’s any doubt about that. We were done in by the rain and at the Oval, I think we are going to flatline them, and I think we need to. I don’t want to lose 3-1. To lose 3-1 to this Australian team of cheating convicts would be very annoying.”
