Two in court over alleged murder attempt – as 26-year-old man fights for life in Glasgow hospital

Two suspects have appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a man was left fighting for his life following an alleged attack in Renfrewshire.

Emergency services were called to a flat in the Maxwellton Street area of Paisley after the alarm was raised at around 5.30pm on Sunday.

A 26-year-old man was found with life-threatening injuries and was taken to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where medical staff described his condition as critical.

Cameron Woods, 25, and Damon McDowall, 24, were arrested and charged by Police Scotland in connection with the incident.

The pair appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

As well as the attempted murder charge, McDowall has also been accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and breaching bail conditions.

Both Woods and McDowall, of Paisley, made no plea and were remanded in custody. They are due back in court within the next week.
