Duncan Ferguson says he will be Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager next season, despite the threat of relegation.
The former Everton and Scotland striker, 52, expects to see out the three-year contract he signed with the Highland club in September.
Caley Thistle are ninth in the Scottish Championship as they approach their final league fixture against Greenock Morton on Friday, and hope to better Queen’s Park’s result against Airdrieonians to avoid the play-offs.
A draw could be enough for Inverness if Queen’s Park lose, as Caley Thistle have a better goal difference.
“I’ll be here,” Ferguson said of next term. “As far as I know – that’ll be down to other people to decide that. But as far as I’m concerned I’ve got a three-year contract – I’ll be here for three years.
“We are a big club. We have a lot of great fans, great people running the club. We’ve got to do everything we possibly can to stay in the division and hopefully that will happen on Friday night.”
Inverness and Morton have taken four points each from their three meetings this season.
“I’m confident enough that we can do the business on Friday night,” Ferguson said.
“That’s the main thing for us – get the points and see where we are then. Our fate’s in other people’s hands at the moment. We’ve just got to do our business and put in a great performance and pick up the points.
“[Morton] are safe now so well done to their manager and their squad. It’s been very close games when we’ve played them so it’ll be the same again I would think.
“They are safe so that motivation might not be there. They are a threat. They can score goals. They will want to come here and win.”
